Klamath County Fire District 1 (KCFD1) is establishing a hiring list for Firefighter/EMT.

All candidates must take the FireTEAM exam and the CPAT through National Testing Network. Also please complete the NTN candidate PHQ & PSSA, upload the required documents to your NTN account, as well as a current/passing CPAT card, to be considered further in the hiring process.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This position is responsible for carrying out the duties assigned by the supervising Company Officer. Firefighter/Paramedic personnel are required to work in strict compliance with all rules and regulations that govern Klamath County Fire District 1 (KCFD1). This position responds to a variety of emergent and non-emergent incidents including calls for structural and wildland fire suppression, rescue, BLS and ALS emergency medical services, interfacility transports, mass casualty incidents, and man-made and natural disasters. Operates and assists in routine maintenance, cleaning, and inspection of KCFD1 vehicles, specialized equipment, facilities, and tools. This position requires project work, as assigned.

ABOUT THE DISTRICT

KCFD1 is a Special District governed by an elected, five-member Board of Directors. The District provides fire protection to 192 square miles in and around the City of Klamath Falls serving 52,000 patrons. The District also provides ALS Transport services and is assigned Klamath County Ambulance Service Area #5 that covers a total of 490 square miles. The diverse area covered includes urban/suburban areas and rural/frontier as well. In 2019, KCFD1 personnel responded to mitigate 7,795 calls for service. Additionally, through a contract with the Oregon State Fire Marshal, the District provides a Hazardous Materials Team (HM-4) with primary response to Klamath and Lake Counties.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education

High School Diploma or GED.


Certifications/licenses

  • DPSST, NFPA, IFSAC or Pro-Board Firefighter I certification. Must obtain Firefighter II and ICS 800 within three (3) years of hire.
  • Must have Oregon EMT License by date of hire; must be maintained for the duration of employment. For reciprocity information, visit the OHA website at: oregon.gov.
  • Current CPR card.
  • Possession of a driver's license valid in Oregon and maintain a safe driving record throughout the duration of employment.
  • EVOC certified, NFPA Driver, or equivalent.
  • Must have DPSST, IFSAC or Pro-Board HazMat Emergency Responder (Awareness and Operations).
  • ICS 100, 200, and 700.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Associates Degree in Fire Science or closely related field.


Certifications/licenses

NFPA Firefighter II certification.


Other

Computer proficiency with an emphasis in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint; and work in a networked environment.
